Privacy & Security Policy

Beyond "Mom" Project

Your trust is sacred. This project involves vulnerability, intimacy, and personal transformation. Every image, every file, and every moment from your session is treated with the utmost care, security, and confidentiality.

File Security & Storage

All images and session files are handled with professional-grade security:

  • Secure Storage: Files are stored with password protection and encryption
  • Multiple Backups: Images are backed up to multiple locations to ensure they're never lost
  • Private File Naming: Files use neutral codes, never your name or identifying information
  • Secure Delivery: Images are delivered through password-protected, private galleries
  • No Unauthorized Sharing: Files are never shared with third parties without your explicit permission

Your files are yours. You will receive all edited images from your session. I keep archival copies of all session files unless you request deletion. I only USE your images for purposes you've explicitly consented to.

Confidentiality

What happens during your session stays confidential:

  • Session Privacy: No one will be told that you participated in this project unless you choose to share that information yourself.
  • Personal Information: Your name, contact information, and any personal details shared during our conversations remain completely private.
  • Session Notes: Any notes I take about your session (lighting used, comfort levels, technical details) are stored securely and never shared.
  • No Gossip, No Sharing: I will never discuss your session, your body, your choices, or your experience with anyone-not other photographers, not other participants, not friends or family.
Publication & Usage Rights

Your images will never be published, displayed, or shared without your explicit written permission.

IMPORTANT: Even if you sign a model release form, no image will ever be used publicly without a separate, specific conversation and your clear "yes."

Here's how publication consent works:

  • You choose which images: I will never publish an image you're uncomfortable with, even if you've given general permission. You review and approve every specific image before any use.
  • You choose where they appear: You have separate control over different types of usage:
    • Private portfolio (password-protected, shown only to potential participants)
    • Public project work (exhibitions, publications, online gallery)
    • Social media (Instagram, Facebook, etc.)
    • Website display
    • Print exhibitions or shows
  • You can say yes to one and no to others: For example, you might approve images for an exhibition but not for social media. Every usage type requires separate permission.
Public Sharing & Project Use Consent

If you choose to have images shared publicly as part of the project, here's how your consent works:

  • Initial Consent: You grant permission for specific images to be considered for public use in exhibitions, publications, online galleries, or other project formats.
  • Review Before Public Release: Before any public release, you will receive notification showing exactly which of your images will be used and how they will be presented.
  • Right to Withdraw: You may revoke consent for any or all of your images at any time before they are made public. Once you withdraw consent, those images will be immediately removed from public consideration.
  • After Public Release: Once images are released publicly (exhibitions, publications, online), they cannot be fully retracted. However, consent can still be revoked for future uses, reprinting, or ongoing digital display.
  • Promotional Use: Consent for public sharing includes permission to use your images in promotion of the project itself (social media posts about the project, preview images, etc.). You can limit this separately if desired.

No Pressure, Ever: If you change your mind about public sharing-whether it's the day after your session or the day before release-I will honor that without question, guilt, or persuasion. Your autonomy matters more than any project outcome.

Your Rights as a Participant

You have complete control over your participation and your images:

  • Right to Review: You may review any image before it's used for any purpose.
  • Right to Refuse: You can say no to any image, any usage, at any time (with the exception noted above regarding already-published work).
  • Right to Request Deletion: You can request that specific images be permanently deleted from my archives. Once deleted, they cannot be recovered.
  • Right to Anonymity: You can request that your images be used without your name, with a pseudonym, or with only your first name.
  • Right to Companion Text: If your image is shared publicly, you can choose whether to include your own written reflection, your chosen words, or nothing at all.
  • Right to Change Your Mind: What you consent to today, you can revoke tomorrow (within the limitations described above).

Your "no" is final. I will never try to convince you, explain why you should reconsider, or express disappointment. Your comfort and autonomy are non-negotiable.

Safety Recording Policy

For the safety and protection of both of us, all sessions are video recorded:

  • Purpose: Safety recordings protect both you and me by documenting that the session was conducted professionally and consensually.
  • Storage: Safety recordings are stored securely on encrypted drives, separate from your photo files.
  • Access: These recordings are private and confidential. They will only be reviewed if there is a dispute or legal matter regarding the session.
  • Not for Publication: Safety recordings are never used for promotional purposes, social media, or any public display unless you explicitly opt-in to separate behind-the-scenes content consent.
  • Retention: Safety recordings are kept for at least one year after your session.
Data Retention & Deletion

You have the right to request deletion of your files at any time:

  • Image Files: If you request deletion, all RAW files, edited images, and backups will be permanently erased within 7 days.
  • Personal Information: Your contact information and session notes can be deleted upon request.
  • Confirmation: You will receive written confirmation once deletion is complete.
  • Cannot Be Undone: Once files are deleted, they cannot be recovered. This is permanent.

Exception: If your images have already been released publicly or published in a permanent medium, I cannot retrieve those copies. However, I will delete all master files and prevent any future use or reprinting.
